Artifact: Friday Focus Memo for Staff
Description: One of the items on my entry plan is preparing and disseminating a "Focus Memo" for staff. I believe it is very important to reserve staff meeting time for professional learning and I would work to include administrative items in a "focus memo." In addition, I think it is critical as "lead learner" of a building to share relevant issues with staff and to share my professional reflections on something I am currently reading and learning. This artifact was prepared hypothetically to inform staff and was written as the conclusion of a five-part series on A Blueprint for Reform: The Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). This last part of the focus series discussed the topic of promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
Rationale for Inclusion and Reflection:This focus memo demonstrates my ability to articulate relevant issues and share my own professional learning with staff. I learned the importance of preserving staff meeting time when possible for professional learning, as well as the importance of sharing relevant issues from the "bigger" educational arena with staff.
